Great to be back and writing on my page again. Just to get back into the groove of things, I wanted to touch upon a few thoughts in the next couple of posts…. so sit back and enjoy.
I was driving into work the other day, listening to talk radio, and a thought popped into my head. Now politics is the soup of the day on most stations, but I try and listen to those with a, you might say, religious backdrop to them. I never really paid attention to the growing theme to most issues presented everyday: call your local congressman; winning the next election is the only way to preserve our rights in America (something along those lines, or many variations of that thought); in order to stop the moral decay you must elect this person or this group; its your duty to vote for this issue or this person…..and so on and so on. Let me sum it up. The only way to preserve morals and values is too….vote and elect conformity?
What do I mean by vote and elect conformity? What does conformity mean? Well, according to the all-knowing (much pun intended), and infamous (yes, infamous,) Google brain, conformity is essentially compliance with standards, rules, or laws in accordance with socially accepted standards. Oh really.
See, for decades now (and probably before, but for now let’s stick to recently), the wonderful 2 party system has created a phenomenal and constructive moral conformity. But we are Christians and voting is the right thing to do (or something like that). Well, lets see how that works.
In order for this so called 2 party system to work, there has to be give and take or one side would completely gain power. And for a while, it seemed that most issues between the parties were economical in nature. (I am being overly optimistic I’m sure, and trying to keep this short and pithy). But now morals and values are front and center, and the divide is vast and full of wrath and vengeance. And after decades of taking God out of everything, its society that is dictating the moral path. Wait, it gets better….
Instead of give and take on the economy, it’s give and take on morals…. and most importantly, Biblical values and precepts. Believers obey God over man. God’s Word is inerrant and infallible (see previous blog posts about this topic). God Word is perfect. God is the same yesterday, today, and forever. We are not to compromise, or alter our beliefs, or the Word of God, in order to conform to society and culture around us. See the issue with constructing politics as a saving force? Unalterable Biblical principles and values will at some point be conformed in order to please both sides of the isle. Does that make any sense? Unless Christian Biblical values are completely adopted and believed, compromise will rule the day.
So don’t vote? Not at all saying that. But to hear religious people talk as if a politician, or political party, is going to save the country from moral rot is not the truth of the matter. To vote, sit back, and wait for something to happen is not a path I would take. All the time, money, and energy put into politics to save the moral decay of the West, or the world for that matter, should be utilized elsewhere. I am not here to tell anyone how to spend their time and money, but I will say this…. learning and loving the perfect Word of God will answer any and every question and concern you have. And if it’s not in the Word of God, should you be concerned with it? (Everything you need in life is in His Word; for God made us in His image.)
We are to learn, love, and share the Word of God to any and all, and to the ends of the earth. I pray if you took the time to read this, you take another step and pick up God’s Word, the Bible, Holy Scripture, and start reading. Then find a local Church, and fellowship with God’s children. I would love to help in anyway I can. God Bless.
