What is Sanctification? Sanctification is too separate oneself from sin. A decreasing frequency of sin. We all sin and will always sin. How we handle sin, learn from sin, and most importantly, repent of sin is what separates a true Christian.
A true repentance of sin is part of our lifelong sanctification process. To repent is to express sincere regret and remorse concerning sin. Not only your sin, but all sin. Jesus Christ knew no sin, and by the Grace of God, became sin for us in order to justify us before a righteous God. “He made the one who did not know sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.” (2 Cor. 5:21).
We have been made righteous by our Lord Jesus Christ in the eyes of God. Through our faith in Jesus Christ, this righteousness is passed into us by way of the Holy Spirit who begins our sanctification process. “The righteousness of God is through faith in Jesus Christ to all who believe, since there is no distinction. For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.” (Romans 3:22-23) A cleansing and purifying of our soul, a walk with Jesus Christ who knew no sin. “The one who says he remains in him should walk just as he walked.” (1 John 2:6)
