Christian Nationalism?

Christian Nationalism is quite the topic of conversation.  Should it be?

Try to look up the term, “Christian Nationalism.”  Endless answers or responses.  Consensus answers?  Hardly.  Everyone has an opinion.

Christian is Biblical.  Those who believe in our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ are Christians.  Christians submit to Jesus as Lord.  Christians have a permanent Spiritual union with Jesus.  Christians live a life of obedience by repenting of sin and turning from sin.  Christians love God’s Word and are continually seeking after Jesus and His Will.  “And the disciples were first called Christians in Antioch.”  (Acts 11:26) Simple enough right?

Now let’s look at that extremely divisive, polarizing, mean and nasty word, “Nationalism.”  Well, it only appears that way when “Christian” precedes it.  Left on its own, many definitions of nationalism are quite harmless.  Put the two together, and nationalism magically takes on a life of its own.

But let’s look at that word “Nationalism.”  Pick up an older dictionary or encyclopedia (sometimes the online versions are a bit different…interesting…but I digress).

Nationalism is sometimes defined as a Spiritual attachment to a nation.  Ok.  Nationalism is often driven by a shared culture or beliefs.  Hmmm…Ok.  Oh, but the kicker is Nationalism can “sometimes” lead to a belief in the superiority of one’s nation over others.

Well, Galatians 3:28 says Christians “are all one in Christ Jesus.”  So that key word Christian in front of Nationalism helps take the “sometimes” out of the picture.

Jesus says He is “The Way, The Truth, and The Life.”  Jesus is the narrow path to eternal Salvation.  Jesus is the door, and the only door, we go through.  That sounds exclusive.

Well, it is.  But Salvation is available to any and all who seek after Jesus and place their Hope and Faith in Jesus as the only way to Salvation.

Nationalism is deemed exclusive.  Well, yes, but Chrisitan Nationalism is available to any and all that live together in shared unity as one through Christ Jesus.

If this nation we live in now turned to Biblical Christianity, the Nationalism that resulted would know no borders.

Jesus tells us in Matthew 28, “Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations.”  Make disciples in the nations.  Christians in the nations.  Christianity in the nations.

But hey, lets continue to argue and debate the thousands of definitions of Christian Nationalism “concepts” instead of sharing the Good News to any and all and defining Christian Nationalism as a world sharing in the unity in and of One, Jesus Christ.

“One Lord, One Faith, One Baptism, One God and Father of all, who is over all and through all and in all.”  (Ephesians 4:5-6)

I would love to speak with anyone seeking a relationship with Jesus.

Blessings,
